Wow, it's Hawk Moth time! The trap included two huge Privet Hawk Moths and an Elephant Hawk Moth. Most impressive. And we also caught a brand new species. Rob had seen this last week near the trap and on approaching what he thought was probably a shrivelled leaf it flew away. Being more cautious this week he managed to photograph the spectacular Lilac Beauty.

Others in the trap were many Heart & Darts, many Uncertain or Vine's Rustics, many Common Footman and Double Square-spots, new for this season the Dot Moth, several Riband Waves, some Dark Arches, a few Bee Moths, a Celypha lacunana or two, some Grey or Dark Daggers, a few Stenoptilia/Platyptilia, a Sycamore and a Common Emerald.
